Howdy

In the last four years, Sonny Mauldin has acted in productions ranging from new works to Chekhov. He’s performed in two concert musicals (one of which was directed by Bill Rauch and music directed by Deborah Abramson), received Recommended Proficiency Status with the SAFD in both 2 handed broadsword and single sword, performed as a featured vocalist and dancer in multiple events in the Waco Texas community, acted in short films and comedy sketches, directed various projects (including traditional on stage scenes), and has devised avant garde and immersive scenes. He spent two weeks in India devising and working closely with Obie Award winner and friend, Dael Orlandersmith. Sonny also has a love for playwriting, having written four 10 minute short plays, with one having a performed staged reading. He recently performed on a three month contract with Lagniappe Productions in comedy gunfight stunt shows both in Texas and Louisiana, where he was unanimously voted the company’s  highest honor of “best performer” for the season. He has also acted in multiple staged readings of brand new plays, the most recent of which was the Inaugural season of the Baylor New Play Initiative, where he worked closely with award winning producer Scott Carter in his new play I, Will. Now that he has graduated from Baylor University with a BFA in Theatre Performance, he is overjoyed to live in Brooklyn with two of his best friends in the whole world, who are equally committed to creating theatre as he is, and he can’t wait to see what the big city has in store for them.
